Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I upgrade my phone's OS (Operating System)?
Upgrading your phone's OS is rather simple:
- Make sure that you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
You can download it
here.
- Backup the files on your phone using Desktop Manager. (Not required
but highly recommended).
- Eject and unplug your Blackberry.
- Download and install the desired OS to your PC
- Locate the file on your PC named vendor.xml and delete it. It should
be located in c:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader.
- Plug in your Blackberry and open Desktop Manager. You should be asked
if you would like to upgrade. The upgrading process can take anywhere between
45 and 60 minutes.
I installed a theme on to my phone, but I can not locate it in the Themes
list. Why is this?
There could be several things that are causing this to happen including the
following:
- BB Dimension themes are not installed. If you want to install an Icon
theme, you have to have the BB Dimension Icon theme installed. If you want
to install a Today theme, you have to have the BB Dimension Today theme
installed, if you want to install a Zen theme, you have to have the BB Dimension
Zen theme installed, and if you want to install a custom theme (Bottom Zen,
L, Today Plus, etc), you have to have the BB Dimension Today and BB Dimension
L theme installed.
- The theme you tried to install was not meant for your phone. If you
have an 8300 series device, you must install the theme for the 8300 Series
phone, if you have an 8700 series device, you must install the theme for
the 8700 series phone, etc.
- The theme you tried installing is not meant for your OS. For example,
a theme made for OS 4.2.2 will work on a device running an OS higher than
OS 4.2.2, but not lower. You can check what OS you are running by going
to "Options", and then going to "About". The OS should be listed with a
little v, followed by about 5 numbers. Please take note that all of the
themes made by ThemeBerry will work on most phones considering they were
exported for the lowest OS.
- The battery was not pulled after installing the theme. This is required
for phones running an OS before version 4.2.2.
- IT Policy Restriction: You may be on a Corporate BES which restricts
the installation of third party applications, including themes.
- You may not have enough memory to install a theme. However, this is
rarely ever the case. Check the amount of memory you have by going to "Options",
then going to "Status".
I ordered an icon version theme. When I make a new folder and put applications
in it, I go in the folder and there is nothing there. Why is this?
There is no actual cause as to why this happens. However, there is an easy fix
for it. Pull your battery for 60 seconds (while the device is powered on) and
then put the battery back in. That should solve the problem.
The sound profiles icon in invisible. Is this a bug?
The profiles icon is invisible for one reason. That reason being is that it
makes the banner look much cleaner and not so cluttered.

I am searching around on the website, when I click on a page I get an error
that says "Internal Server Error", why is this?
This is a known issue with some websites. Right now we are trying to figure
out a way to solve this problem. If this happens to you, try refreshing the
page... Usually that seems to temporarily fix it.
